PGA Players ability test

PGA Instructor

One of the beginning steps in entering the PGA program en route to PGA Membership (not PGA Tour) is to complete the Players Ability Test (PAT). It’s a 36 hole, one day event, with the goal of beating a target score. In the weeks leading up to the event I was definitely feeling the nerves, especially having been absent from tournament golf for over 12 years. The morning of the event I felt very nervous, and my warm-up on the range didn’t feel all that great. Knowing there was very little I can control during the course of a round, I laser focused on two things I could control: my pre-shot routine and attitude (more on this in a future post). Long story short, I ended up putting up rounds of 69-68 for a five under par total of 137, and beat the target score by 19 strokes. Thank you to my coach @jamesohgolf for the pep talk(s) before the event and my equipment sponsor, Callaway Golf.
